Start here

Not sure where to start? Point us at the problem.

Every path below begins with the same appointment — a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Pick what fits and we'll tell you exactly what to expect from it.

What's the main reason you're here?

Choose one. Nothing is submitted — this just points you to the right first appointment.

Start with a psychiatric evaluation

Whatever brought you here, the first visit is the same: an unhurried evaluation, by secure video from anywhere in Texas or in person in Grand Prairie. You leave with a working explanation and a written plan — not a five-minute prescription.

How it works

Three stops. The first takes about two minutes.

No referral needed, no intake gauntlet, no "we'll call you back in three weeks." Carrollton patients tell us the hardest part was deciding to start.

Book online or call

Pick a time that works — including weekday evenings and Saturdays. Tell us your insurance and we verify coverage before your visit, not after it.

Have a real evaluation

A full psychiatric evaluation with a board-certified provider. Your history, your sleep, what you've already tried, and what you actually want to change. Video or in person — your call.

Leave with a written plan

Medication, therapy, testing, or a combination — explained in plain language, then adjusted at follow-ups until it's genuinely working.

Conditions we treat

Holding it together is still work. You don't have to do it alone.

You don't need to be in crisis to see a psychiatric provider. Most of the Carrollton patients we treat are functioning — carpools made, deadlines met — and quietly exhausted by what it costs.

Two ways to be seen

Honest about where we are: Grand Prairie, not Carrollton.

Sound Minds has exactly one office, and it isn't on Josey Lane or the Square. For most Carrollton patients that turns out not to matter — but you should know it before you book, not after.

Secure video, anywhere in Texas

Evaluations, medication management and therapy delivered at the same clinical standard as an in-office visit — same providers, same appointment length, same documentation.

  • No tollway, no waiting room, no lost half-day of PTO
  • Works from a home office, a parked car at lunch, or the kitchen table after drop-off
  • You keep the same provider if you move across DFW or across Texas

The people you'll actually see

A small team, on purpose.

You won't be handed to a different provider every quarter. Continuity is most of what makes psychiatric care work.

Patient stories

Trusted across Carrollton.

★★★★★
I put this off for two years because every place I called had a three-month wait. Booked on a Tuesday, seen by video that Friday, and for the first time somebody actually explained what was going on instead of just handing me a prescription.
Melissa T.Rosemeade, Carrollton
★★★★★
The video visits are what made it possible — between shifts and the kids, driving to an office was never going to happen. Same provider every time, and she remembers what we talked about a month ago.
James K.Furneaux Creek, Carrollton
★★★★★
Three antidepressants over six years and I'd given up. The genetic test showed why none of them fit, and the new plan felt like it was built from evidence instead of hope. I wish I'd found this sooner.

Insurance & cost

Careful psychiatry, in-network.

Plenty of Carrollton families assume that unhurried, attentive psychiatric care means cash-pay concierge prices. It doesn't have to. We're in-network with more than twenty plans — including United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Anthem, Optum, Oscar, Oxford, Medicare and Medicaid.

Send your plan details and we verify your benefits before your first appointment, so the cost conversation happens up front. Prefer to skip insurance entirely? Transparent self-pay rates are available on request.

  • Benefits checked before your first visit, not billed as a surprise afterwards
  • Telehealth visits are covered by the same plans as in-office care
  • Family policies and dependents welcome — bring the card, we'll do the rest
  • Clear self-pay pricing if you'd rather keep insurance out of it entirely

Straight answers

Questions worth asking before you book.

No — and we'd rather tell you that plainly than imply otherwise. Sound Minds has one office, at 2100 N Hwy 360, Ste 405B in Grand Prairie, about 30 minutes from most of Carrollton straight down the President George Bush Turnpike. Most of our Carrollton patients never make that drive: evaluations, medication management and therapy are all delivered by secure video anywhere in Texas. Come in person when you prefer to, or when a service such as SPRAVATO® or the BrainView scan requires it.

Most new patients are seen within days, not the six-to-eight weeks many North Dallas practices quote. We hold weekday evening and Saturday appointments and see Carrollton patients by secure video statewide, so you're not waiting for one mid-morning opening. Book online or call (817) 755-5707.

Yes. We're in-network with 20+ plans, including United Healthcare, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Aetna, Anthem, Optum, Oscar, Oxford, Medicare and Medicaid — the plans most Carrollton households in 75006, 75007 and 75010 carry. Send your plan details to Info@soundmindspsych.com and we'll verify your benefits before your first visit. Transparent self-pay rates are available if you'd rather not use insurance.

For most care, yes. Evaluations, medication management and therapy all happen over secure video at the same clinical standard as an office visit — from home, a locked office door at lunch, or anywhere else private in Texas. The only requirement is that you're physically in Texas at appointment time. In-person visits to Grand Prairie are needed only for SPRAVATO® treatment and the BrainView neural scan, or whenever you'd simply rather meet face to face.

Yes. We pair a structured clinical interview with Creyos cognitive testing, which measures attention, working memory and executive function objectively in about 25 minutes. That matters most for adults who've compensated for years — project managers, nurses, engineers, small-business owners — whose symptoms a five-minute checklist tends to miss. We also prepare accommodations documentation when an employer or school asks for it.

Treatment-resistant depression is a large part of our practice. GeneSight shows how your body is likely to metabolize specific medications, the BrainView neural scan adds objective brain-activity data, and our certified SPRAVATO® (esketamine) treatment center offers a genuinely different mechanism for people who haven't responded to two or more antidepressants. Every plan is overseen with our supervising psychiatrist, Dr. Azeza Uddin, MD.

Your records are protected health information under HIPAA. We don't release them to an employer, a school, a partner or a family member without your written authorization, apart from the narrow situations the law requires — our Notice of Privacy Practices spells those out. Video visits mean no waiting room and no car parked outside a clinic on Josey Lane, and appointments outside business hours are available if that's simpler. Documentation for an employer or licensing board is prepared only at your request, and you see it first.

Yes. We work with adolescents, college students and adults across Carrollton and its school communities — anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, trauma and sleep problems. For a minor, a parent or guardian consents and stays part of the plan, while the appointment still leaves room for the teenager to talk. Call (817) 755-5707 and we'll tell you honestly whether we're the right fit or whether a specialist referral would serve your family better.

A psychiatric provider diagnoses conditions and prescribes and adjusts medication; a therapist works through patterns and skills in structured talk sessions. Many people do best with both. You don't have to decide alone: a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation sorts out which you actually need, and Sound Minds offers medication management and therapy under one roof — by video across Texas or in person in Grand Prairie — so nothing gets lost between two offices.

Plan for about an hour. Your provider goes through what brought you in, your history, sleep, medical background and anything you've already tried, then explains a working diagnosis in plain language. You leave with a written plan — medication, therapy, testing such as GeneSight or Creyos, or a combination — and a scheduled follow-up to adjust it. Bring your insurance card, a list of current medications and any past records you have.

Ready when you are

Booking takes two minutes. The rest we'll do together.

Whether you're near the Square, out by Josey Ranch, or somewhere up the 121 corridor — the first appointment is the hard part, and it's the part we've made easy.
